Your suggested route

The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.

  1. Day 1 · Arrival · Settle in one bay

Choose a base such as Yalong Bay and spend the arrival afternoon close to your accommodation. Have lunch, walk a permitted stretch of beach and check local swimming guidance. Sanya’s bays are separate areas, so do not treat changing beaches as a quick walk.

  2. Day 1 · Evening · A simple coastal dinner

Eat near your base and enjoy the waterfront if conditions suit. Confirm tomorrow’s transport before finishing the evening. A relaxed first day is more useful than driving across the city solely for sunset after a flight.

  3. Day 2 · Morning · Nanshan

Arrange a dedicated outing to the Nanshan cultural area if it interests you, allowing a substantial visit for the religious setting, gardens and coastal views. Follow current visitor routes and respectful clothing guidance. The large area deserves more than a brief statue photograph.

  4. Day 2 · Afternoon · Lunch and return

Have lunch at an operating venue with clear prices and return to your base without adding another distant attraction. Leave the later afternoon for rest or a short beach walk. Travel time depends strongly on which bay you chose for accommodation.

  5. Day 3 · A beach day with choices

Spend the morning swimming only where permitted, walking or enjoying your accommodation. Add a booked watersport through a reputable operator if conditions and your experience suit. Keep lunch and the final airport transfer unhurried; another island trip would require a separate full day.

Where to pause for food

Try a Hainanese meal such as Wenchang chicken if interested and choose seafood only after confirming weights, preparation and prices. Keep one dinner convenient to your hotel. Resort dining and town restaurants offer different levels of convenience, so plan the transfer as well as the menu.

Getting around

Use arranged cars or taxis for the Nanshan outing and airport transfer. Confirm your hotel’s exact bay, not just ‘Sanya’. A rental car is not essential for this deliberately limited route, especially if you prefer to stay near the beach.

For a shorter day or different weather

In unsettled weather, choose a suitable indoor visit or rest at your accommodation rather than forcing a marine activity. If cultural attractions are not your focus, replace Nanshan with another slow coast day. Wuzhizhou or another island should replace a day, not be added to it.

Before you go

Check beach conditions, activity operation and Nanshan access. Confirm which hotel facilities and beach services are included for guests. Do not assume every attractive shoreline is suitable for swimming or publicly accessible through a private resort.
