Your suggested route
The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.
Morning · Drive to the plateau
Leave the Gold Coast with food, water and enough fuel, then travel to the Springbrook plateau. Start by checking the local signs and whether your chosen walking circuit is open. Mountain driving and track access make this a separate full-day outing, not an hour between beach plans.
Late morning · Purling Brook Falls
If open and suitable, make the Purling Brook Falls circuit the main walk. Allow a generous two to three hours with rests; the descent means an uphill return. If that is beyond your group’s comfort, use an accessible designated lookout option instead of beginning a descent you cannot comfortably reverse.
Lunch · Picnic and recovery
Have a picnic after the walk and give yourself time to cool down. Decide on the afternoon only once you know how the group feels. A waterfall day is better with one well-enjoyed walk than two rushed circuits.
Afternoon · One lookout, then home
Choose another open plateau lookout if visibility is good, then return in daylight. Natural Bridge is in a different section of the park and requires additional road travel. Make it an alternative focus, or a separately planned evening tour, rather than assuming it is next to Purling Brook.
