Your suggested route

The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.

  1. Day 1 · Morning · Central landmarks

    Begin around the Central Post Office and the cathedral precinct, viewing only areas currently open during restoration or other works. Continue along the central streets with a coffee stop. Allow two hours rather than treating each façade as a separate taxi journey.

  2. Day 1 · Afternoon · Independence Palace

    Have lunch, then allow two hours for Independence Palace if open. Read the historical context and visit at a pace that suits your interest. Later, walk Nguyễn Huệ and the nearby riverfront before dinner, using the cooler part of the day for outdoor time.

  3. Day 2 · Morning · War Remnants Museum

    Give the War Remnants Museum two to three hours if you choose to visit. Its material can be confronting, so leave the following period unhurried. A quiet lunch afterwards is preferable to immediately rushing into a light-hearted commercial tour.

  4. Day 2 · Afternoon · Market or café streets

    Choose a short Bến Thành Market browse with prices agreed before purchases, or spend time in a neighbourhood café. Finish with a Vietnamese dinner near your base. A Củ Chi or Mekong excursion requires a separate substantial outing and is not an extra afternoon stop here.

Where to pause for food

Try cơm tấm, bánh mì or a noodle meal according to preference, using cafés for a break rather than every meal. A food tour can replace one evening. Check seafood and market prices before ordering and choose a clear pickup point afterwards.

Getting around

Walk the central clusters and use booked cars or taxis for longer gaps. Allow generous road-transfer time, especially to the airport. District names and city boundaries can change; use the exact attraction and hotel address when arranging a ride.

For a shorter day or different weather

If the museum subject matter does not suit you, replace it with a different collection or an architecture-led walk. In rain, spend longer at the palace or a café. With one day, choose one substantial interior and the central walking route.

Before you go

Check palace and museum hours, cathedral access and any restoration notices. Keep evening transport flexible. This guide is city-focused, giving visitors time to understand a few places instead of adding distant excursions for quantity.
