Your suggested route
The times below are suggested allowances, not live opening hours or transport schedules. Adjust the order for your arrival time, bookings and conditions.
09:30 · River and Lennox Bridge
Start in central Parramatta and walk towards the river around Lennox Bridge. Give yourself 45 minutes for the riverside setting and a first look at the city. Arriving by train keeps the morning predictable; use a ferry as an optional scenic journey only after checking current services.
10:30 · Parramatta Park
Continue towards Parramatta Park and choose a manageable loop through the parkland. Spend about an hour looking at the landscape and heritage setting. Do not turn the morning into a distance challenge: leave time for the site that interests you most.
11:30 · Old Government House
If open and available, visit Old Government House and allow around an hour for the interiors and interpretation. Its position in the park makes it a logical anchor for the day. If the house is closed, enjoy the exterior setting and extend your park walk instead.
Lunch and afternoon · Church Street and a slower finish
Return towards Church Street for lunch, then follow another short section of river or explore the centre. Allow time for a café before heading home. A ferry return can be a pleasant final activity, but it is longer and more timetable-dependent than simply taking the train.
