Bali filled more than one photo dump on my feed. At one point the ten-photo limit really wasn't helping. The 2025 route after Labuan Bajo moved from a southern stay to a villa, then Ubud, Kintamani and Benoa. There’s a lot of packing in that sequence. Be realistic about the transfer days and keep the quiet days quiet. The sunsets don't need a crowded itinerary to be good.

Before you go
- Carry rupiah in smaller notes for local food, entrances and drivers. Cards are useful at many hotels and larger restaurants, but check acceptance and surcharges before ordering.
- A QRIS sign does not guarantee your overseas payment app is supported. Keep cash or a card option available until you have confirmed compatibility.
- Grab and Gojek are useful where service and pickup rules allow. For boat trips, remote accommodation and longer drives, arrange the actual transfer and return with the operator.
- Save the accommodation pin and written address. On islands, a short distance on the map can still involve a slow road or a separate boat connection.
- Download an Indonesian translation pack. ‘Terima kasih’ means thank you; ‘tolong’ means please/help. Simple place-name screenshots help with pickup arrangements.
- Buy a visitor SIM or compatible eSIM with the right coverage and registration. Do not rely on continuous mobile reception while sailing; save boarding and return details offline.

Day 1 · Arrive from Labuan Bajo
Keep the evening for reaching the first southern Bali accommodation and eating nearby. After the boat-trip and flight sequence, another sightseeing transfer would add little. Check the property address with your driver. “South Bali” covers a lot of ground.
Save the exact address before leaving Labuan Bajo and tell your driver which entrance to use. Keep essentials in a small accessible bag so a late check-in doesn't mean unpacking everything. If the flight or earlier boat return runs behind, tell the property and simplify dinner. The first night is there to absorb the journey, not to prove how much Bali you can see immediately after landing.
Days 2–3 · Use the villa stay to pause
Move to the villa and leave the following full day largely local. Its actual location should determine whether a beach, neighbourhood meal or short outing makes sense. Don’t turn a villa day into a long island circuit simply because there is no timed attraction booked.

For the single Ubud night, travel inland, leave bags and choose a compact afternoon around the accommodation or town. Lunch first, then a walk. Add one cultural stop if it fits, and have dinner nearby. Rice terraces and a cooking class need more time than this version comfortably allows. If that’s why you’re coming, move a night here from the south.
Ubud brings temples, art and everyday town life into a greener inland setting than Bali’s southern coast. Pick a small area and explore it properly. Driving between far-apart photo stops eats the day.

Kintamani’s caldera landscape makes Bali’s volcanic origins visible on a much larger scale. Give the lake and mountain view some time, even if cloud moves in.
Continue in daylight and settle in before choosing a nearby viewpoint or café. Leave time for the mountain-and-lake setting. If you want to add a sunrise excursion or climb, check current access and operator arrangements separately, then keep the previous evening quiet enough for the early start. Benoa gives the trip a coastal resort finish after the inland stay. Enjoy the slower pace. Not every spare hour needs an excursion.
Allow the southbound transfer its own window, then use the full day between nights for the coast and rest. Choose one nearby activity if wanted, checking what is included and permitted. Avoid another distant excursion that undoes the purpose of finishing with two nights in one place.
Day 8 · Onward to Jakarta
Pack the evening before and arrange the airport journey around the actual flight to Jakarta. Keep the last breakfast local and leave plenty of time for the roads. If redesigning the trip, combine the southern stays and add time in Ubud to reduce packing. That would be my practical change for a future visit; it doesn't alter the sequence recorded in the original 2025 notes.
What to budget
Prices checked September 2026. These are for the named ticket or service. Check your date and what’s included before you pay.
- Bali foreign-tourist levy: IDR 150,000 — Government levy for applicable foreign visitors, with exemptions; separate from visas, accommodation and attraction admission. Pay through the official Love Bali channel. Price source
Budget IDR 50,000–150,000 per person for a simple meal. That’s a rough guide. Drinks and nicer restaurants cost more. Price transfers separately, especially private drivers, boats and airport trips.
A few photo tips
- At a designated Kintamani viewpoint, try early light and include the lake to show the caldera’s scale.
- Around Ubud, photograph from public paths and ask before portraits or entering private spaces; do not step into rice fields for a composition.
If the weather changes
Use a town art visit, a café or time at the accommodation, and reduce cross-island driving in persistent rain.
The final day and your flight
Morning flight: stay within reach of Ngurah Rai Airport the night before, then keep the morning for checkout and the transfer. Allow for the airline’s check-in time as well as the trip.
Afternoon flight: leave inland Bali early to allow for traffic and bag collection. Keep your last stop near your southern base. No Kintamani drive today. Work out the transfer and bag pickup time before deciding when to finish.
Where to pause for food
Eat near each overnight base. The villa nights offer the most flexibility; on the shorter Ubud and Kintamani stays, dinner nearby leaves more time to enjoy the setting.
Getting around
Follow the accommodation sequence from southern Bali to the villa, Ubud, Kintamani and Benoa. Arrange each transfer with luggage in mind; avoid adding distant stops to moving days.
Where to stay
The notes record one initial southern night, two villa nights, one Ubud night, one Kintamani night and two Benoa nights. Use exact property addresses when comparing transfers; Bali's place names can cover more ground than expected. Book drivers around checkout times and when you can get into the next room. For a simpler holiday, choose fewer bases and more nights in each, especially if the accommodation itself is part of what you want to enjoy. For a shorter day or different weather
For five days, I’d split it between a southern base and Ubud, combining the southern hotel moves. Keep Kintamani as an overnight only if the mountain-and-lake setting is a priority. Put a saved night into Ubud for a cooking class or countryside outing.
